The Fourth Public Hearing of the Global Parliamentarians’ Inquiry into the Progress of Fossil Fuels Phase Out will focus on the progress in the phase out of public and private sector financing for fossil fuel projects, and will examine the progress in fossil fuel phase-out by the G7 countries.
This session aims to gather insights from experts, policymakers, and stakeholders on the current status of financing for fossil fuel projects globally, fossil fuel phase-out by the G7 countries, identify barriers to divestment from fossil fuels, and explore strategies to accelerate the transition to renewable energy sources.
The inquiry was first launched in September 2023 and the outcomes are scheduled to be presented at COP29 in Baku, alongside the outcomes of the national inquiries.
