As the climate crisis intensifies, the need for a just and equitable transition from fossil fuels to clean energy has become increasingly urgent. Legislators worldwide play a pivotal role in crafting and implementing policies that support this transformation. However, achieving a fair energy transition poses unique challenges across different regions and requires tailored legislative approaches that protect vulnerable communities, promote sustainable development, and secure affordable energy access for all.
The event, to be held on COP29’s Energy Day, will bring together a diverse group of parliamentarians from Egypt, Nepal, Tanzania, Canada, Bolivia, Uganda, and Brazil. These legislators have been at the forefront of advocating for climate justice and championing policies that foster an equitable energy transition within their countries. Through their experiences and insights, this session aims to highlight transformative legislative actions that address the specific needs of their regions while aligning with global climate goals.
